How to configure outlook with gmail

How to setup Microsoft Office Outlook 2000 or higher to send, receive and store email messages for a Gmail address. 


Before getting started, please make sure you know your Gmail email address and your Gmail password.


1. Start Outlook: 


2. Go to Tools -> Email Accounts.

3. Add a new e-mail account  and click on Next.

4. Select server type as  POP3 then click on Next.

5. Specify your Gmail username and password and in user information-> enter your Name and your Gmail email address. 


6. Server Information section
- Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com. 



7. Login Information section, enter your Gmail User Name and your Gmail password. Tick the box "Remember password" in order to make Outlook to store the Gmail password, so it will not ask you about it every time when Outlook will send/receive emails for the Gmail account.


8. Click on the "More Settings" button and go to the "Advanced" window tab. 
- On the "Incoming server (POP3)" field, enter 995 and mark the box "
- On the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" field, enter 465 and mark the box "

To verify your Outlook Gmail setup, click on the "Test Account Settings" button: this will make Outlook to attempt to login to your Gmail account and to send & receive an Outlook test email. If the test will succeed, you will notice the test email in your Outlook Inbox folder. If the test fails, Outlook will prompt you with the error messages - most likely, you didn't setup the correct server settings or the Gmail password is wrong.

How to install Ubuntu over windows XP: Installation Steps



1.      First Make free space in the machine (Minimum 25GB – If your HDD is Fully partitioned, Take the backup of your data and go to disk management option (Right click on My computer, select Manage option select disk management option it will open a window) , there u have to select one drive which is not having any data and right click on it and apply Delete option)
2.      Make the system boot from cd rom drive (Go to bios(press “del”  or  “F2” Button on system startup according to your machine)and set the first boot device as cd rom)
3.      Insert the Ubuntu cd and restart the machine
4.      After booting from cd rom u will get language selection option select English and press enter
5.      Next step you will get 4 option in that u have to select “install ubuntu” option
6.      Next step Select  Language as English ,Forward
7.      Next steps select Timing Zone Region=Asia  City=Kolkata,  Forward
8.      Select keyboard as US English,  Forward
9.      (Important!)  Next step it will search your Hard Disk Drive(HDD) and it will show 2 option in that you have to select  “Specify Partition Manually(advanced)” option
10.  Next step it will show all available partition and free space in your HDD (Don’t Delete none of the windows partition)
11.  Select “Free space” and click on “New Partition”  and create first partition as root (“/ “)  Give 10GB or more for that one(file system ext3)
12.  After that u have to select free space again and create another partition “/boot” .Give 500MB for that
13.  Third Partition is “/home”. Give 10GB or more for that
14.  Fourth u have to select “swap” partition  in place of fileystem type(ext3), then partition column will be filled by “Not Applicable” Option automatically.
15.  After that u have to press forward option and then it will automatically proceed the installation.
16.  After installation completed it will ask for restarting the machine by removing the cd from cd drive.

How to Enable Root User in Ubuntu..?

Root user has all the administrator privileges so whenever you need to edit system files or configuration from within Gnome, you will feel the need to login to Ubuntu as a root user. 


But the question is here is How to Enable Root User in Ubuntu..?


Follow the steps below:

  • Open the terminal and type:   
      sudo passwd root
  • When you see the prompt that says “Enter new UNIX password”, enter the password you want for the root user and confirm it.
  • Type: 
      sudo gedit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
  • Locate the line that says “AllowRoot=false”. Change it to “AllowRoot=true”.
  • Save the file
  • Exit gedit, logout and then reboot.

Done...!
